18 years ago I graduated, with honors, from Red Wing Tech’s “Electronic Music Technology” A.A.S. degree course. What that means is that I learned how to fix a whole bunch of different electronic musical equipment: amps (tube and solid state), keyboards, organs, P.A. equipment, etc…Finally, after all these years, I’m putting my degree to good use here at Tree Strings. My main focus is on guitar amplifiers, but I can also troubleshoot effects pedals and most other electronic musical gear you may have.
My shop rate is quite low compared to other, more well established repair shops in the region. One of the reasons for this is that I work out of my home, so my overhead is lower. Another reason is…I want your business! You may find that if you go to one of the larger shops, the price, wait time and inconvenience of driving in the metro might not make it economically feasible to fix up that old amp or PA, and so it just sits or gets thrown away. Well, bring it to me and you might find it worth your while!
My favorite pieces of gear to work on are old tube amps. These classic beauties can be a real pleasure to work on and sound great once restored. There’s a lot of info on the web on how to work on these amps, but if you’ve never cracked one open, you’re better off bringing it in for servicing or repair. The high voltages inside a tube can be quite dangerous!
So, if you have an amp, PA or other electronic musical gear that isn’t working, or doesn’t sound right, get in touch with me. I have great rates, fast turn around time and strive for a high quality customer experience as well!
